About Leanne...the Walker

Hello! My name is Leanne and I'm a walker. I participated in my 5th Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure event this year. I walked in my 3rd Dallas/Ft. Worth 3-day event and my first Atlanta event in 2010. I walked again in 2011 in Dallas with my sister, my dad, and my dear friends! I was 31+ weeks pregnant and it was a beautiful experience. I am passionate about working to find a cure for (breast) cancer and helping prepare others for their own 3-day journey.

In addition to training over a thousand miles each year, I also am committed to raising money for breast cancer research and awareness. Since 2008 I have raised over $12,500! You can help support me by donating to Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure. All donations are tax-deductible and every dollar you donate goes to help find a cure.

I am 29 years old and live outside of Dallas, Texas. I received my masters in theological studies at Perkins School of Theology in 2009 and have been trying to use it ever since. I married an amazing man in Dallas on July 4th, 2009 - Jarrod is a music minister in a New Orleans suburb. We are expecting our first child in January of 2012.

I have no idea what I am going to be when I grow up, but I am figuring it out while I work at a job I really enjoy on Louisiana’s North Shore.  I have two cats that I adore and Jarrod has a rat terrier. Sophie, Oliver, and Lucy are our babies. I walk in memory of our grandmother, Shirley Adele, who died 32 years ago, before I was born. I also walk for other special friends and family who have fought or are still fighting - and for future generations that won't have to.
