Happy Mardi Gras!

I'm sorry for the lack of posts in the past few days. Things have been a little unusual around here. I have a dear friend visiting from DC for Mardi Gras and no one has work around here, so I have been away from my computer more than usual. This is my first Mardi Gras in New Orleans, so we're trying to take full advantage of everything the city has to offer. We had a local parade on Friday night, went into NOLA on Sunday night and saw some CRAZY stuff, and then went in again last night, but it was much more our speed. The floats are gorgeous. We've seen Drew Brees (New Orleans Saints Quarterback), Sean Peyton (Saints coach), Steve Zahn, The Imagination Movers, and Harry Connick, Jr! We have caught hundreds of beads, stuffed toys, glow sticks, and cups.

As a New Orleans transplant, I am learning a lot about what Mardi Gras is for the community and for families. We have had some very family friendly fun in New Orleans and met some awesome people. We're headed back into the city again today and that'll be it for the fun. Tomorrow is Ash Wednesday, the official beginning of Lent...and the END of carnival season!

I'll be back blogging about the 3-day soon. But until then, here's a picture of my husband, my sister, my friend, and myself at a couple of Lundi Gras parades.
